My First Hole-In-One

I got my first ever hole-in-one during a tournament and I’ve now learned what it’s like to be part of the “hole-in-one club.” Everyone has a story to go along with their hole-in-one and my story is crazy on its own.

I was playing in the CGA Collegiate Showcase at Grandover Resort. We played both the East and the West Course and both were crazy hard. I had the lead after day one at 10 over par, so you know everyone was struggling. My day two did not start out well. When I got to the par 3 hole 11 on the West Course, I just felt like I needed to just change the stressful vibe we were all feeling. I just yelled out to my group and the parents watching that I was going to hit a hole in one right here. Everyone laughed because this hole looked really hard. My Dad called me Babe Ruth and said he would record it. Well, I hit my 7 iron, 145 yards uphill right on target, my ball landed, bounced once and then just disappeared. The cheers started with one set of parents that were standing by the green and watched it go in. Me, I was in disbelief that the ball actually went in the hole and it took me a second to realize what just happened. We were all in shock, not only because I got a hole-in-one, but because I called it before AND we got it on video.

It definitely lightened the stress for all of us in our group. The Grandover courses really beat us all up that weekend. I was thankful that my first hole-in-one came during a challenging tournament weekend, happened with a group of fun pairings and my parents were there to see it.

It was too much fun not to happen again, so I'll be ready for my next hole-in-one.
